Website information

Privacy Notice

This notice explains how LIFT handles personal information when you use the website or contact the project team.

Reading the website

You can read every public part of this website — destinations, experiences, tourist sites, visitor information, news, the Cyclist’s Diary and the Map & Cycling App entry — without an account and without giving us any personal information. The website does not use advertising or visitor-tracking services.

Messages you send us

When you use the contact form, we store the name, email address, subject, any destination you choose and the message you write. We use them only to read and answer your question. The message is saved in a private inbox that only the project administrators at BICC–Sandanski can open; it is never shown on the website and cannot be listed or searched by visitors.

Alongside your message we keep the date it arrived, the language of the page, the page you came from when you followed a link on this website, and a one-way technical fingerprint used only to limit automated abuse. We do not store your internet address itself, and we do not ask for identity documents, telephone numbers or file attachments.

Administrators may add private handling notes to your message. A specific retention period has not yet been supplied by the responsible organisation; use the contact form if you want a saved message removed.

Website accounts

LIFT supports accounts for authorised staff and for visitors who choose to keep a personal cycling route list. You do not need an account to view the public cycling map or read the Cyclist’s Diary. The account service stores your email address, protected password credentials and any optional profile details you provide, and sends account confirmation or requested password-recovery emails.

When signed in, you can save a published cycling route with the status “Want to visit” or “Visited”. LIFT stores the route reference, your chosen status, and the dates when the save was created or changed, linked to your account. This personal list is not made public and other users cannot access it. You can change or remove each saved route, or permanently erase your entire saved route list from My Diary.

New personal Diary notes, photographs, saved places, bookmarked chapters and Velo Hub stamps are saved to your signed-in Supabase account. They are private, can be retrieved on another device and are not shared publicly unless you deliberately submit a separate note for editorial review. Personal photographs are kept in a non-public storage bucket. Older records from the device-only Diary are not transferred automatically: you may confirm a one-time import, which removes original device copies only after cloud verification, or choose to discard them. The public travel guide remains available without a login, including offline public guide content. Your account is managed through the LIFT Supabase authentication and database services, hosted in the EU. If you request full account erasure, contact the project team through the process below. The team will verify ownership and remove associated account-owned records and private storage objects as appropriate.

Your requests

To ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it removed, write to us through the contact form and describe your request. Confirmed postal and email contact details for the project team are published on the Contact page as they are made available.
