Make time for Sandanski
Sandanski has plenty to offer before and after a day on the bike: mineral-water spas, Sveti Vrach Park and ancient mosaics in the town centre. Mountain-bike routes explore the hills around Debrene, Bozhdovo and Dzhigurovo, while the countryside around Melnik brings together vineyard landscapes, old wine roads and striking rock formations. Leave time to walk through Melnik, visit its historic houses and wine cellars, or continue to Rozhen Monastery. With accommodation and restaurants in town and the surrounding villages, there is plenty of scope for a longer cycling stay.
