Make time for Petrich
Petrich lies at the foot of Belasitsa, where mountain-bike trails lead into the forest above the town and its surrounding villages. There is plenty to explore off the bike too, including the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica, Rupite and Samuel’s Fortress. Down in the valley, wineries around Kolarovo, Kapatovo and Dolno Spanchevo offer another side of the area to discover. A stay here can include a mountain ride, visits to archaeological sites and time enjoying local food and wine.
